The department is in existence since 2004 and two batches of students have successfully passed out and placed in some of the most reputed organizations in the country. Manned by highly experienced and dedicated faculty, the department provides intensive training to students on industry-relevant technical and soft skills to enable them to succeed in their careers. The department undertakes research and software development activities, in which the students are actively involved. MCA students regularly undertake sponsored research projects from Hewlett-Packard, India Software Operations, for which they are provided attractive stipends. Besides rigorous academic grounding the department conducts a plethora of extra and co-curricular activities to ensure all round development of the students. Industrial visits, excursions and picnics are also a regular feature at the department.

The department has recently initiated R&D activities in the areas of software engineering, distributed systems and soft computing. The department intends to institutionalize research as an integral part of the MCA programme that it offers.
