Management as a 21st century discipline has captured the imagination of Nations, Governments, large corporations, business houses, academicians, professionals, students and even small businesses. No wonder the aspirants for acquiring the coveted “MBA” degree grows exponentially each year in our country, with thousands of B-Schools offering different flavours of MBA ranging from the plain vanilla MBA to the highly specialized disciplines of retail management, infrastructure management, travel and tourism management and the like reflecting the skilled manpower requirements of a surging India. While some management gurus emphasize the process approach to management, others consider a case-study based experiential management style more effective. A completely diverse view is the “Common-Sense” approach to management, relying on the individual’s emotional and intelligence quotients to succeed. Others also liken management to a fine-art form, relying on individual brilliance and out-of-the-box thinking and problem-solving ability. From the academic session 2007-08, the Department of Management Studies at MIET has started a two year full-time Master’s Degree Programme in Business Administration (MBA) duly approved by the Govt of J&K, AICTE and affiliated to the University of Jammu. |

Admission to MIET MBA Programme is an invitation characterized by overall high-quality and dynamic environment for promoting studies. We ask students to pool in their talents, experience and dedication in an intensive two year “Transformation Programme”. The students coming from diverse backgrounds help themselves in examining managerial issues from multiple perspectives. We also encourage students to challenge their assumptions, acquire new skills, examine unfamiliar possibilities, imagine unexpected opportunities and above all to assume responsibilities for themselves in this competitive world.
The Department has State of the Art Computing, Seminar and Class Room facilities supported by an extensive Library of books, journals and data base of case studies.
The two-year Programme establishes a foundation in fundamental Business practices including Finance, Marketing, Human Resource and Systems. In addition to acquiring analytical mind-set, quantitative techniques and improved communication skills, the students are given practical exposure to create real world action plans and implement their solutions.
During the two years of MBA course every effort is to be made to develop each individual’s personality so that once he/she comes out of the Institution, he/she is able to launch himself/ herself unhesitatingly into the real world of professionals with whom he/she is required to interact and shoulder to shoulder.
Development of personality forms an integral part of the MBA course. In order to assist the student in enriching his/her personality and making bloom he/she is required to actively participate in games and sports and also in cultural and literary activities such as Seminars, Debates, Special talks, Quiz, Paper presentation contests, Dance/ Drama/Music/ Skits, and the like. |

In order to promote leadership and ensure the involvement of students in activities, different students committees and associations are formed under the guidance of the staff members as per the University and Institution’s Rules and Regulations. These shall be responsible for: |

f) Social welfare, social service, fund raising and Alumni’s Meets.
g) Any other activity which is permitted and duly approved by the management of the College. |

The Faculty of Department of Management Studies is composed of Professors & Lecturers having specialization in several disciplines, who are involved in Teaching, Consultancy as well as pioneering research in key managerial areas. The competence and expertise of the Faculty are constantly upgraded in a phased manner following multi-pronged approaches. The Department invites eminent Academicians, Teachers and Experts from various B-Schools and Business Houses to supplement theoretical knowledge of Students with practical applications. |

3 faculty members of are in the process of completing their PhD programmes and provide a boost to the R&D activities undertaken by the department. The department has recently initiated research in the areas of organizational behavior and culture, operations management and quality assurance in education. |
