  To impart quality technical education with the goal of producing competent engineers having requisite skills in Information Technology and allied areas with a special focus on their overall personality development, thereby preparing them for successful careers and technical leadership in a global scenario.  
     
   
     
 
  • To establish the Department as a Centre for Excellence in the near future, offering innovative PG programmes, undertaking research in emerging areas and collaborating with partners from the industry and academia.
  • To create high-quality placement opportunities for the students of the department.
  • To create state-of-the-art technical facilities for the students, providing hands-on exposure to the latest technologies and emerging trends in the field, beyond the scope of the curriculum.
  • To offer value-added programmes for the students of the department to ensure that their skill development is congruent with the industry requirements.
  • To organize National and International conferences, seminars, workshops and short-term training programs to disseminate knowledge and promote research-based activities in the region.
 
   
     
  The Dept. of Information Technology Engineering at MIET is the oldest in the region and manned by highly qualified, committed and dynamic faculty and staff. The department in its short existence has made rapid strides in terms of student placements, university results, industrial linkages, quality of project work, research and development, extra/co-curricular activities and novel academic initiatives. Some of the highlights/special achievements are listed below:  
     
 
  • Qualified, experienced and competent faculty with industry experience.
  • Over 80 students placed – in reputed organizations like HP, Satyam, L&T InfoTech etc.
  • Latest computing infrastructure – 1:1 computer student ratio with internet access to all students.
  • Students have the opportunity to undertake open-source research projects with Hewlett-Packard during which they are paid attractive stipends.
  • All students offered a “Storage Technology Foundations” value-added programme under MoU with EMC Data Storage Systems.
  • Students have the option of training at the State-of-the-Art Cisco Networking Academy on campus on latest networking technologies leading to CCNA certification.
  • Centre for Software Development in place, where students can undertake real-world software development projects.
  • Invited Lecture Series in place, which invites reputed academicians and industry-experts to interact with students on a regular basis.
  • Computerized Language Lab available to students to improve their communication skills.
  • Student Amenities – transportation, spacious common-rooms, individual guidance and counseling cell, industry-institute partnership cell and medical facilities available.
  • Active Student Participation – in placement committee, department publications, 360 degree feedback system.
  • Personality Development Programmes – compulsory student seminars, mock tests and interviews, aptitude building sessions, display-your-talent events, regular student participation in National level events etc.
  • Plethora of Events/Activities :- 
    - participation in yearly student technical/cultural event SAMMILAN.
    - Regular quizzes, paper presentations, celebration of important days etc.
    - Events conducted by students chapter of Indian Society of Technical Education (ISTE).
    - NSS committee regularly conducts socially relevant programmes.
 
   
     
  The department is actively engaged in R&D activities, having published research papers in reputed conferences. The department actively undertakes research in network security, databases and software engineering.
